Permits are free to search beaches, but if you find any valuable jewellery or coins then you have 14 days to report it to the police and the crown estates office...then you might get a share!
Wonder how many beach detectorists are aware of this, and how many of those report any 'valuable' finds to the plod and Goverment ?
Back in 1969 when I started detecting we all needed a licence from the Home Office under the wireless and telegraphy act of 1948 ....at least that's ended lol
