welcome to the forum kev....i had a bounty hunter fast tracker for almost four years and founds loads of stuff....i changed to an explorer because most of the club i belong to use them and think they are the best.....but, i cant say i have found any better stuff than with the BH....as the old adage goes......."you have to walk over it to find it"....so dont feel that you dont belong...your machine is as good as anyones !...hope to meet you at a rally soon...all the best...byron

welcome to the hobby Kevin.

make sure you join a club, and know that you must record all finds over 300 yrs old, with the local Finds Liaison officer, of the Portable Antiquity scheme.

Get a simple handheld GPS to give u the 10 figure grid references.

Above all, make sure you get permission from landowners, you don't want to end up like those detectorists in essex, caught earlier this year entering land without permission and charged by the police with 'going armed with intent to cause burglary'

I want to thank everyone for their encouraging comments, shame i didn't get to go to Blackwood.
a mate of mine who is a D/W member went, and said it was a good day. i will certainly try and walk over it Grin

i will have to stick with my tracker V for now
