The proof is in the pudding  Wink as the saying goes the Deus for what it does is way overpriced at the Pontypridd rally I had a signal with my Goldmaxx mk1 which another rallygoer just managed to pick up with his Deus it turned out to be deep Iron  Roll Eyes and that explains why people in the know own an explorer and Goldmaxx together to compliment each other Wink bit like salt and pepper why spend all that money on a Deus when you can still get as good a preformance from the goldmaxx at half the price and better build quality to boot I have great respect for the goldmaxx and explorer range  b ::)ut would not entertain the Deus in any shape or form it just a status  symbol in my eyes another form of one upmanship so if anyone wants to waste their hard earned cash carry on thats okay by me  Wink Grin Grin

The Deus is way better than a mk1 goldmaxx

It depends on what the other rallygoer Deus settings were, and why would the Deus want to find deep iron anyway

Not worth the money ? i average over 30 hammered coins every year and no my sites are not that good.

I have had two gold coins and hundreds of Roman coins so yes as you say the proof is in the pudding

Its funny its always the non Deus users who say its not worth the money, well guess what its the best detector you can buy.

i personally think this battle of detecters is a load of rubbish,,it all comes down to how you use your machine and where you go and how much time youve got on your hands,,,peronally i dont own  a Deus but i have found 3 gold coins i average 40+ hammys per year {20 so far this year} not so many roman but i live in herefordshire and roman isnt as widespread as some other areas but saying that i have got 18 dinari over a 4 year period ,,,,im fed up with people saying my tecters this and my tecters that ,,,,,,,,,,,detecting is like everything else ,,you get out what you put in.

Well said i agree with you 100% And very often its more to do with the person using the machine than anything else. .....PaulB.

Yes a lot of its all down to a good detecting technique, how many people do you see at rallies swinging there search coil a foot above the ground  Shocked

Good sites are a bonus, and spending time gaining permission for new sites is all part of the hobby

Then you have detectors, and yes there an important part of success,a good detector is going to make the job a lot easier

Sorry, but what hogwash as i have had the Deus 3 yrs and its produced superb finds at depth and i took it on grassland where the E.Trac cannot find much now ..I was surprised at what the E.Trac missed...The E.Trac holds the signal for to long and poor pinpointing on grass....The Deus is a totally compatiable with its three radios ...coil,box and headphones...The best machine i have had 36yrs of detecting...A new machine needs 200 hours plus before slagging it of Embarrassed Embarrassed

Totally agree
I can't understand why people are always ready to
run any others machine down .
Maybe it's because they would like one?
I am not interested in any other machine but the
one I am using at the moment through my own choice Grin

i can see this developing into another tecter battle ,,truth is there are so many factors to detecting which determine if your going to make finds or not rather than just swinging a stick,,weather /ground/machine set up etc ,,i had a choice to buy a Deus or not earlier this year and the 1 factor that made me say no was that some people who own  a Deus wernt that convinced with its capability and told me as such. another factor to tectin is this ,take a 80 acre field throw 30 people on there {1 time}and detect it personally for 5 years and i guarantee you wont find everything within that time ,,do people really know where there going on a field {somepatch that hasnt done before ?} if so why do we all chase new farms {personally speaking i tect several farms but 1 i have done for 4 years now and it still throws up stuff on a regular basis {and the amount of hours i put in are phenominal}...im not picking on tecter or person ,,but we all think we can do no better when were finding things we want .

I also use the Deus
But I would just like to say that is through choice
It suits my needs, not through one upmanship
Like you have said,I go over the same fields, have not
found much of late but I guess that's part of the game.

when i sourced land for the farmer phil rally on behalf of dw ,dw had the rally which was attended by {i think 80+ people} i myself didnt attend but i went there about 4 months later and detected on pasture {which as always been as far as i know }  within 20 mins i found george 3rd sixpence 3 other greenies and a buckle ,,,was it my detecter or the fact that out of 80+ people nobody walked over it Huh?

As Relic says.the settings are quite important on the Deus. There are a lot of tweaked programs that are far better than the standard programs.I was using the standard programs for ages until I got talking to another Deus owner whilst out and about and his tweaked programs were proved to be far  deeper than mine, needless to say, I soon made a few changes.
