Title: Cwmbran Boating Lake - Red Crested Pochard
Post by: SimonH on January 13, 2010, 01:29:14 PM
For those who have an interest in bird watching, there is an adult drake Red Crested Pochard on Cwmbran Boating Lake.  I just went down to get some pics of it.

Nice pics Simon. I am trying to show my daughter the names of the different birds in our garden and with the foot of snow we had last night I have been feeding them today to see who turns up but we have this really ferocious Robin that defends its territory like a mad thing. It will even take on the much bigger Magpies and Crows but has a thing for a Hedge Sparrow that it seems to watch at a distance. Fascinating watching them and my daughter thinks it,s great.

I get fed up of our robin doing that too Paul.  :-\

The robin holds territory all year round, very few birds do this - so will defend it both by singing and trying to drive away any intruders
