I know that there has been a Forest of Dean club in the past but is it time that this is now resurrected?

I have rediscovered metal detecting after a 20 year absence back then it was an old Cscope 1220B, gala-vanting all over the South Coast with my dad.  Now I have a Etrac and I must admit sometimes I am overwhelmed by the settings, from my experience it is better to learn from other people, sharing knowledge and enthusiasm for this wonderful hobby.

I have met a couple of members from the Forest, notably Gav but I know that there are more of you out there, including, so I have been told some Etrac users!  As we all know the Forest is rich in its archeology from Neolithic to the Victorians this includes 3 castles, numerous hill forts, caves, ancient meeting places and not forgetting the Romans who helped to extract Iron on a massive scale.  A club would help to pull our resources together including access to land, club rallies, meeting new people as well as someone to tell me the optimal settings for my bl**dy Etrac!

Please Forest DW members get in contact so that we can have a pint or two

ha,,,  I dug out a 1220b then joined the forest of dean club a few years ago. it was fairly small and family run and a great bunch of guys. I think similar to myself peoples circumstances are very different to pre-credit crunch and all that other ressesion &*$. Personly, scince meeting them about 3-4 years ago, i have had 4 different jobs the last of which made me do 60+ hour weeks.thus time for hobbies is somewhat smaller, i know other guys have had differnt/similar issues to worry about. I think if someone has the time to orgainse things then it would be great to get it running again,,,,esspecially now i have the time to go again...
Not sure about any etrac users though?

but in response to the title(and you asked for this) ...
Its in the Forest of Dean!!!!!  duh

Well, I'm def interested.  I know that sometimes clubs get a bit bogged down by committees but as said let's meet up in Cinderford somewhere for a pint and and see where we go.  Basically, let's go detecting!  Grin
