Title: Possible flint scraper

Hi i found this today on some ploughed soil in herefordshire its around 4cm long was hoping somebody could confirm it is a scraper thanks for looking.

Looks like youve got a lovely Neolithic blade there Al. If the notch in the long edge isnt plough damage, it could be a tool for striping bark from sticks to make arrow shafts or similar. a genuine swiss army knife of its day.

no its no plough damage Ian u can see marks from where the flakes have been chipped away. Thanks for responding well happy first for me :-)

It is a Notched Scraper on a Tertiary flake with semi-abrupt retouch on the left mesial, ( the right when viewed from the ventral side, pic 2 and 3. The top end is called the Distal end and looks as though it may have been used as a tool for boring
so the artefact would be classed as possible Side scraper/Piercer combination tool from the Late Neolithic to Bronze Age period. There is a good Platform at the bottom, known as the Proximal End, but no visible BoP, Bulb of Percussion. Beautiful find Well done
