Today I found my first ring since I started the hobby in January...and it's silver..bit battered but I don't care one bit.

Looks early?

I was going low and very slow near an old opening in the field. I managed to pick that out in and amongst a nail graveyard Wink it was around 8" down and was a nice high pitched double tone.

Going off the hallmarks it's Birmingham mint 1815 - not sure on the maker as it's a bit worn on their mark

Great find - I think you are doing really well - I've been detecting for 8 years now (I think) and I've yet to find any gold or silver rings - although I did find a copper one with hallmarks......
