My guess would be a folis of Grottsiminus 228 - 238 Minted in Grottenberg. Its just a guess though.

So it's not a grot in the true sense of the word and if we add the lettering around the edge then we are looking at (probably) a Sesturtius.
My first gut reaction based purely on the style, hair and nose would be Marcus Aurelius Huh

I agree with you - it's a bloke with a beard and it isn't Ant Pius or Commodus, so it would either be Aurelius or Lucius Verus
