Title: Statuette Post by: crashland on June 06, 2009, 04:42:19 PM Hi all. I found a part of a statuette today in a garden. It's not complete sadly, the head, both arms and both lower legs are missing. It would be about 6 - 61/2 inches tall if complete. Its cast from greyish metal. Sorry that's all the info I've got on it. Can somebody give me some tips on cleaning it up so I can perhaps take some better pictures?

Sorry crashland sounds a bit rude that. To clean it up I would soak it in warm water and try some gentle brushing to start, when you know what you are dealing with , metal wise then you can decide what to do to take further action. Title: Re: Statuette Post by: hedgehog on June 07, 2009, 07:15:47 AM If it is spelter crash there isn't a lot you can do with it other than keep dry brushing it until you get the effect you want and then wax it, very brittle stuff.
