Title: Jetton (I think) for ID
Post by: IFINDNOTHING on March 11, 2012, 05:18:50 PM
Found this today, anyone have any ideas? 4.76g 25mm dia and approx 1.5 thick, other side shows the same type of writing on the outside with what looks like a cross in the middle, too crusted up to photo. I think it looks like a French jetton, no doubt someone will know.

Well your not living up to your name lol. A lovely find and as you say a French Jetton, this type dates from 1480 to 1550. The obverse inscription reads "VIVE LE ROI VIVE LE ROI" (Long live the King). ;)
