The denarius is very nice, but for me the best item is that Valens Siliqua, minted in Rome - no cracks - it's fantastic.

Thanks for all the comments guys - very much appreciated.

Looks like we timed the rally spot on, as according to the BBC, the whole of Southern Britain is being hit by a 24 hour downpour this coming Sunday!

We were lucky to find the sunny window!

Cheers

great report neil apart from the bit where you said " 4 lads from plymouth came up on their 1st DW rally "

sandy & james were on their 1st DW rally, myself and mickyV were on our 3rd.just for the record  Smiley

just had some info on the vessica seal that sandy found it says " Seal of ROGERI HUET "

firstly thanks for a great 1st DW rally  Smiley

Sandy my bro found the lovely vessica seal and a roman coin !!! I found a horses tooth and a button  Wink  I have spent many hours since trying to find out who this Rogeri Huet was named on the seal. i have managed to find references to Roger Huet,Hughet,Hupet,Huzet and Huget which i believe to be the same person from the 'Calender of the Manuscripts of the Dean & Wells' from the 1270's . With Wells only being 8 miles from the find and the date also tying in with the seal date of 13th - 14th century im sure this is the man on the seal !!!

hope you find this interesting !!!!

happy hunting all and looking forward to the next time we all meet !!
