What a cracking Detecting Wales Rally, Nothing to special in the way of finds for me, Buckles, buttons, a few greenies and a lead token, but this rally is going to take some beating as far as the
organisation, the location, the finds and the great company. A big thank you to the DW organisers and the farmer, what a nice man, he even pointed out places where he thought some things might
be found. Hopefully he'll put in a good word with other farmers in the area.

Thanks for the rally - enjoyed it but left after lunch due to getting a bit cold and didn't feel too good.

Thought I'd found an ornate furniture hook thingy but after having a Google I found out it's a medieval sword mount  Smiley

I also found a silver florin,  a buckle and a couple of blank buttons

Not may best day but fun and digging was pretty easy. Gave my coins to the Farmer's boy and this is what is left; 1 GWR button (amazingly common), button with Swan in gold leaf and a couple of Victorian horse decorations I believe. Thanks to DW for great day.

I didnt get much luck, but great to see that others did Cheesy, found a few pennies, a hexagonal thrupenny bit, a livery button and that medallion that Taff posted a photo of, I'll get a piccy of the button up as it would be interesting to see if it matches any of the others found.  Oh yes and the Farmers spare set of gate padlock keys that seemed to make his and his wife's day LOL.

The Farmer and his family were really great people, very nice to talk with and with a genuine interest in our hobby, his wife cleaned up the medallion and e-mailed me the details as she promised, I found a single match on google :

Children's Temperance Society, So  it was basically a bribe to stop kids drinking alcohol in later life, I guess as it was found in a field they found the demon drink just to much of a temptation  Grin Grin

The Farmer also said in his e-mail that he's gone out and bought a detector, so who knows we may see them on a DW rally someday soon  Smiley

Looking forward to the Hog Roast Rally in the summer   (drool)  Tongue   Grin
