Hi All,

Sorry about the late response, had a bit of trouble with technology.

Turned out a to be a great day for me in the end, I found my first ever Roman coin and a Mary Groat and to think I almost headed home at lunchtime because it was so bloomin' cold! Attached a pic of some of my finds. The diddy Roman is a Constantius II.

This was my third DW rally and was a pleasure to meet and chat with some more friendly people. Thanks very much to the organisers. Unfortunately I can't make the Bridgwater rally this weekend, but at least that gives somebody else a chance to find the good stuff!  Wink

That looks to be a cracking Mary groat Kevin. Is the other side as good?

I don't want to upset you Mucky but it took me 30 years lol. Where do you live?
About two miles away from the Wookey dig, in Wells. This is why I am a bit stunned still about a few things.
Quite eventful for me. Learning that there is such a thing as a crotal bell in Somerset; I always thought it was a northern tradition!
Then (Deadlock) presents me with that corker!
On top of that my drawer pull turns out to be a cow horn protector, as pointed out by (Val) I always thought they just cut them.
And to top that it looks like (kevinmansfield) has found the other one. On top of a Mary groat and roman coin to boot!
Dont get me wrong, I do find nice stuff occasionally, but some good finds all round, a learning curve, and coincident's are what
makes metal detecting for me!  Grin Grin
Will definitely make another of your digs that for sure!  Smiley

I live about a mile from the dig site on the Godney road in Glastonbury, you'll have to come out for a day some time. I'll show you where the crotal bells hide  Cheesy Cheesy

Hi Cardiffian, the other side is just as good, unfortunately there is a crack in it, but I'm not complaining. That's my third Mary groat, still haven't found any Henry VIII's yet though.

...and is it really a cow horn protector? I thought that was a wind up? Whatever next are crotal bells really bulls balls protectors?  Grin
