Well Done on a great Rally report and pictures Geoff - really good read.

Some lovely finds came up - the bodkin is a cracker and the third to date on DW Rallies. Well done GJH also on the half sovs - somebody would have been in the wifes bad books over that loss!

Well done Ray as well for getting the farm - mmuch appreciated matey.

Guttted not to be there

Cheers

it has the initials FH on the inside chef ....would that be the person who owned it or the makers mark ?
A difficult one to call Mark, around that time you are beginning to get makers marks on silver but also as these tend to have been very common in their day it's equally likely to have been a mark of ownership. Can you take a photograph of the letters? as that may give a hint as to their meaning.

Thanks again to DW, for another great rally, I found a few bits and bobs including my first spindle whorl, only did a half day as the rugby was calling, looking forward to the next rally.

Thanks DW for the rally, found nothing but enjoyed the day. The half-sovereign found by GJH is Edward VII not VIII.  Nice to have seen a few old faces and quite a number of new.

Just like to say thanks to everyone concerned with organizing the rally, needless to say I had a great day after finding the two half sovereigns, finding one was fantastic but finding the second one about three feet away I was gob smacked, I also found a roman coin but sadley time has not been very kind to it.
(Thanks for your nice comments Chef Geoff I'll let you hold them (sov's that is) next time I see you  Grin Grin Grin)

Hope the next rally is not too far away.
