just been on the phone to MARK LODWICK from Cardiff museum, he wants me to bring the lead face i found a few weeks back down to him next Wednesday for him to look at, i sent him a email last week with the photo of the lead face and he said hes looked at it and as past the photo around the museum to colleges to look at but cant id it at the mo ..........watch this space for more info next week i hope !!!! ;)

its the best artifact iv found love it DIGGA, found on DIG IT land, did find also a roman sestertius ( well worn) there before but the lead  face is not roman  ;)

ITS A PUZZLER KEV  COS  WHEN I LOOK AT IT ,,,,, IT SCREAMS MEDIEVAL  BUT THE EYES HAVE GOT A CHINEESE INFLUENCE ABOUT THEM  ??? ??? ???

Millsy's wife said it could be foreign ,but time will tell will let everyone know when mark lodwick hopefully comes back with the info.watch this space.............TO BE CONTINUED........................................................... ;D

If you see Mark will you ask him if he can return that lead religious item back to me please as I want it give it to a member of the Wrexham Heritage Society for  future study.
It was, I think, from a religious well.
I bet he cannot find it after 8 or 10 years?

went to the museum today at 3pm with ANTIE ANN ;D meet Mark Lodwick there he thinks it could be midevil but like the rest of us not sure!!!!! ???, where i thought there is copper on the face Mark think  it could be SILVER  ;D ;D i hope hes right will be a new ball game if it is but again hes not sure . he said he will keep it for 2 weeks and sort it out.again guys & gals watch this space !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ??? ??? ??? ;D

Thanks for the email, I haven't forgotten about you ! I currently believe that your artifact is possibly a portrait of some post mediaval, possibly c .17th century, European ruler. I am looking through contemporary portraits to try and establish his identity. I will send you my report when its complete and let you know when the item is in the post. I hope that this is OK.

UPDATE ON LEAD FACE............ i sent all the details that the museum (mark lodwick) sent me to the SEARCHER MAG they sent a letter to say that they have had a look at it and have come back with the same info that mark gave me so it could be a foreign leader  ???, but the searcher did say they may put the lead face in the mag in some time for other readers to maybe ID ;)

the lead face i found is in this November's SEARCHER ;) ;D

I hope you have some kind of positive I.D. on this Kev. I've searched my own books looking for something similar but to no avail.

Intriguing one this one, It's a bit misleading as it is missing the end of it's nose and is representative rather than a true likeness.
Given that he is wearing a military uniform that has both epaulettes and a mandarin collar, I think dates it to the the later 19th C at the earliest and the goaty beard was typical of the early 20th C. If the stars are meant to be awards, then the only leader that fits the size is  Edward VII.

That's ME! Even got the military kit on.

Have to agree Chef, I thought it was one of the Edwards or possibly a russian coz of the collar and uniform style. They are all related so its hard to tell them apart anyway.

well Chef the cardiff museum did not know what or who it is ! or the searcher mag didn't either so your opinion is a good one and i do see the similarities but the jury is still out !!! ;D ??? ??? ::)

I don't think you will ever get a positive ID from it on it's own as it is only a caricature of the real person, you would need to find one in situ attached to a tankard or whatever it came from with the name written underneath.
But there is nothing that remotely looks medieval about it,  glad Mark isn't my FLO lol
