I don't want to ruin Christmas but I think you'll be hard pressed to find one much below £1800.
The one on amazon is American and Minelab do not allow shipments across dealerships ie they won't send Minelabs to the UK. But even if you could import one you would have to pay 5% customs duty, postage and then to top it all 20% VAT, which would save you around £50 but with no guarantee. :-\

CAN GET NEW FOR £1845 JUST THOUGHT £1450 WOULD BE A GOOD PRICE FOR A SECOND HAND ONE.
ITS A LOT OF MONEY I AM TRYING TO JUSTIFY IT

The trouble is that they are being snapped up pretty quick second hand so it's a sellers market, plus many who bought the basic package have bought the WM10 later to make it the upgraded version.
With Etracs still fetching £1200, the chances of finding a CTX for that low when they are only 7 months old is pretty remote.
I wouldn't try and justify the price you cant,, but then any machine over the £700 price mark is pure madness and we still buy them. So the only question is...have you got the readies? if yes then just buy one.

Well the way I would justify it is that its my hobby, I love it and I could be spending it on Booze and cigarettes instead.

20 Lambert and butler a day@ £7.21 per pack  x 365 days a year = £2631.65

 ;D

Never let a smoker ask a detectorist to justify 'high priced machines'

;D i gave up smoking 8 weeks ago i was a smoker for 35 years and was smoking 40 a day,This was costing me around £100 a week.

With health problems as well i decided it was time to give up,I still feel like a fag most days but there is no way i will go back to smoking now.

I put £50 a week in a jar and just watch it grow

Anyway back to the subject why would you want to pay £1500 + for a second hand CTX  ??? its just not worth the money

Its no super machine that will find you hammereds every time you go out,if there not in the ground in the first place you wont find them.

Get your self an E-Trac when there cheap, there just as deep if not deeper

or if you want the best machine money can buy get your self an XP Deus  ;D

HI SHAUN HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A NICE CHRISTMAS MATE AS YOU CAN SEE LAST WEEK I HAD A Deus AND A ETRAC AND NOW I HAVE SOLD THE BOTH OF THEM. THINK I JUMPED TO QUICK LOST MONEY ON BOTH.

ANYWAY SET A BUDGET OF £1450 FOR A WATERPROOF ETRAC (CTX3030)  WHICH TELLS ME WHERE I HAVE BEEN UNFORTUNATELY DOES'NT TELL YOU WHERE TO GO HAHA

IF HONEST REGRETING SELLING MY ETRAC AT THIS PRESENT TIME

Merry christmas all

Good luck with your CTX Wayno  ;D

I think the Deus was the better machine out of the two you sold

I think the CTX is no better than a E-Trac as far as depth is concerned,i have been told its not as deep in some cases.

The CTX has a better recovery speed but not as quick as a Deus

With all the cash i am saving by not smoking i will buy the new Fisher/Teknetics multi frequencey machine if they ever realese it  ???

That still makes me a smoker, who IYO cant ask a detecterist to justify their high price machine
I wouldnt have the inclination to anyway :D

Title: Re: CTX 3030 WANTED

Well I think price justification is relative to the amount of  money you can afford and when I say afford I mean "spare" and if it is spare then only the detectorist themselves need to justify it, but.....if you are taking money that would normally go towards something else regarding the family, just so you can go and wave a stick around in a field once a week then you may have a whole bunch of people who can ask.

I will try in  the meanwhile look at this video then tell me to pay more for a waterproof e-trac
Etrac VS CTX3030 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ4gf8ZCt6U#ws)

Title: Re: CTX 3030 WANTED
Post by: Chef Geoff on December 26, 2012, 02:12:46 PM
Well as the guy says in that video the Etrac was a little better on tones than the 3030, so yes it's just a waterproof Etrac with a very expensive wetsuit on.
A customer who uses both the Etrac and CTX said after buying an Ultimate coil "If users new what this coil does to the Etrac, Minelab would loose sales on the CTX".

Title: Re: CTX 3030 WANTED
Post by: Napoleon on December 26, 2012, 02:31:37 PM
:)  a water proof etrac that is brilliant and dont forget gps color screen much more than the Etrac and if it does rain you dont have to worry about sending your machine to minelab  because the control box is dead so that is a big improvement . £1500 for a ctx3030 i think its a price i would buy one for second hand above that price go for a new one . Sure soon or later they wil be one around that price. hope you find one soon i am thinking  to save some cash for a ctx too .cheers.nap

You go for it Wayno  ;) ;).... I have also seen them on the Bay £1000/£1500ish so I don't think you will  be that far out .... My dear wife put my E-trac outside while cleaning under the stairs 3 days later and a lot of rain .... Well lets just say I wish that it was waterproof  :o :o ... if you buy a secondhand machine, and find you don't like it, you won't loose money  ..... Sell it and buy another E-trac   ;) Win Win........ to me its a no brainer  ;)

This is now my last purchase of a detector I am going to used to it and keep it for three years at least. This will be my 5th metal detector in 3 years. 3 of them being brand new losing a fortune on them I must be mad but love the hobby. So I will sell it 3 years time for £1450 with a bit of luck
