Went to the beach today with the kids wife and Tector . I know there was a post about Port eynon recently on here , but bloody hell , after seeing it for myself its scarey . The beach is covered with islands of hard packed mud, Peat I think . Even where there is sand coverage, i was digging signals down at 6 inches and the peat was there as well!  Didnt find much apart from some modern coinage on the peat level , and the normal bottle tops and ring pulls. If that much sand has disappeared recon the old finds may be around.

there was a paddle steamer the wavely that run aground on the rocks to the right hand side of the bay 20 odd years ago.It tried to go inside a bouy at low tide and hit the rocks at mid day. i KNOW CAUSE I WAS THERE AND WATCHED IT ALL.The ship then reversed and beached on port eynon beach. i was out the next day after crab and lobster and noticed something strange floating in the water went closer a dead body washed up apparently when the wavely hit the rocks it disturbed a sunken fishing boat that was lost weeks before with all hands lost it was one of the fishermen.that weak annother body was washed up at midday on the beach again from the fishing boat.
later the top half of the ship was removed and the hull was blown up with explosives ruined a mussel bed and a great flatfish area.I am suprised that detecting is any good here for the amout of material left on the beach from the ship.
from that day on never liked night fishing there again.
