Title: I D on a Scientific instrument Post by: Dryland on February 03, 2014, 09:06:01 PM I know it's not a metal detecting subject, but I'm hoping there's some budding scientist out there
who can I D this " SHADOWMASTER PROTRACTOR" that I recently purchased. It's 15inches x12 inches and it must weigh a couple of stone. What I need to know is 1 - what is it used for ? 2 - is it complete ? 3 - Any idea of value? 4 - Does anybody know anyone who buys scientific instruments ? Title: Re: I D on a Scientific instrument Post by: nobby on February 03, 2014, 09:13:29 PM Noticed its supplied by buck and hickman
They supply the building trade so im assuming its to do with draftsmanship.... Or along those lines..... Title: Re: I D on a Scientific instrument Post by: legio11augustus on February 03, 2014, 09:14:15 PM 123 no clue ...4 flash ahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa will buy it ;D

Title: Re: I D on a Scientific instrument Post by: Chef Geoff on February 03, 2014, 09:48:47 PM It projects a silhouette of an item onto the screen (back projection) and then can be measured for accuracy. If the bit you have isn't electrical then I would say you've got bits missing ;)

Title: Re: I D on a Scientific instrument Post by: Dryland on February 03, 2014, 10:03:16 PM I just checked, theres no place for any electrical connection, unless it sits on top of a projector.
I just realised it's made of brass, so it's a win win situation either way ;D ;D Nobby you were being really mean not buying my collectables yesterday >:( Title: Re: I D on a Scientific instrument Post by: Dryland on February 03, 2014, 10:04:24 PM BITS MISSING? Title: Re: I D on a Scientific instrument Post by: Chef Geoff on February 03, 2014, 10:07:28 PM There should either be a silvered prism or mirror inside to reflect an image up onto the screen but it needs a hole in one of the sides to allow the image to be projected on to the inside.
