Title: What would you think this is Post by: waltonbasinman on August 22, 2010, 08:46:02 AM Attached is a picture of a faint earth work I have found near me. At first I thought it was a tennis court or 5 a side football pitch until I realised it is on a slope and would make sport impossible. There are no reservoirs near this spot so any ideas folks.

Well taking the sheep for scale it's quite small and being on a hill, I would of said a stock enclosure. Plus I think you can rule out deffensive use as you don't build a defensive enclosure/fort on a hill side as the attackers just stand at the top of the hill and hurl things at you.

They are usually square or rectalinear. If it is a stock enclosure I think it would be Iron Age like all the others in the area.
