Ha Ha well done both and thanks for posting picis of everything. Now I feel really guilty. Well praps not that guilty because I've been busy reminding my eldest Son how he misses Moms cooking. He's visiting for a few days so I've got to spoil him.
I think I'd agree with Dad on the ring, it does look coppery. No coins today but think how much the lead weight has gone up. That's a stonker, I would'nt like to try casting it out.
Do you think the 'hook' could be some sort of clothes hanger. Funny looking thing, whatever it is.

I could very well be wrong but I think that the ring looks a little like a compression olive and the silver could be solder and flux. Try doing a density test and that should give you some indication of what metal it is.

It's a very big weight and the "hook" thing is a coat hanger I think, I would of said shampoo bottle but it has a nail in it  Roll Eyes Not to sure on the ring and how would i do a density test?

I really wouldn't bother even getting involved with density tests without very accurate equipment. There are far easier ways to tell metal and the ring certainly isn't gold with that green patina on it.
On the first photograph it looks to have a "ridge" on it, if so then I'm with Chris in that it looks like an olive Huh

well done on your haul , ring does look coppery, and suspiciously looks like an olive but for the width of it
