Buying my first long handled stainless  sand scoop can anyone suggest one worth buying as they don't come cheap.my old xs2a pro is coming out to play I've not used it for a long while  and I've  never done any beach detecting still recovering from wrist op ten weeks ago  another month left  and i've conned my son into  doing all the beach digging can't wait any longer.

Bought on of these and its great. Not just any handle will fit so don't bother with places like B&Q as they just have the ordinary handles.
Go to a farm supplier and get a pitckfork handle perfect size and excellent quality.

why do you need a scoop do you detect waist deep in the water. i find you can dig faster in wet sand with a good spade and you can get them for a tenner in iny garden centre

I used a spade for quite some time and I spent more time chasing finds that fell of the thing than the worth of it.
The scoop is brilliant. One, maybe two bites and the object is out of the hole. No more chasing a signal around an ever deepening
water filled hole in the sand.

ive just bought one from staffs detectors,its a massive scoop from aluminium and has a 2 piece handle like ones on the kelly co website its the dogs and takes down to 2 pieces for packing in the car.
it wasnt cheap 135 quid but its a good one.

Just take the kitchen colander. Easy and free and if a handle is needed use the mop handle and tape.

Just make sure you put it back before sunday dinner  ;D

YOure closer than you think
Ikea has a stainless steel kitchen tool stand that is a tube with loads of holes in it! just add a B&Q handle and bingo.
Or get a section of drainage pipe and drill a load of holes in it, bang on a handle, there ya go

I've tried lots of different ways to adapt something to do the job, but in the end its the durability that lets you down.
More than happy with my purchase and only £70.

tried it mate bought one from b and m and cut down a hoe handle and bolted it all together first time i dug it in slightly stoney sand on hols the end just folded in.
they're not designed to have pressure applied to them theyre ok in the kitchen but if you put weight on em they flex too much.

Well, if you make it properly it will last as long as any youll buy on Ebay

build one used it to distruction then rebuild it and repeat until u got a n undestruclable one.thats how they buit wyllis jeeps
