Ok lets get Neil Drooling over his Keyboard. As most of you know Neil is a Bucklehead. Loves them and cannot get enough of them.

Whats your favourite buckle to date ?  Id and date as well if you know it. If you've got a buckle collection, post up a pic of it.

Well come on "I'll show you mine, if you show me your's" Grin
Well no matter how hard I try I just can't get a love for these things, they just don't do it for me. So here are mine out of the scrap(ish) box where they usually live. Neil will probably curse me to an eternity in some type of buckle hell for this  Grin

mmm Buckles . . .

Couple of nice examples there Chefy - certainly not deserving of the scrap bucket.

A couple of mine, most of the decent ones are with the FLO at the moment though.

First Georgian shoe buckle I think, second an incomplete single loop buckle with integral chape 1390 - 1420.

No one want's to tell you Ray Grin
I'll do it lol. No's1,3 and 4 fit into a group of two piece buckles dated from 1680. No 2 is a little earlier and is from between 1620-1660 Wink

I like buckles, it's just a shame that most come out of the ground broken but I guess that's why they're in the ground in the first place.  Here's a couple of my favourites...

Buckle 20 has been identified by our local FLO as dating to1350-1550 and Buckle 36 as a 13th C King's Head buckle (a real shame that one's broken).
