On the Frampton Cotteral rally an old bent in half machinery makers plate was found. Destined for the scrap bucket I decided to take it home and clean it up.

Well I did this and its been in my bits n pieces box ever since. I've been sorting through this box recently and decided to search on agricultural makers plates. During the search the Museum of English Rural Life - University of Reading came up and I dropped them an email to see if they would like the plate.

They were very eager indeed to have it as even though they have many makers plates, they have none like this.

So after a conversation with the farmer (And an invite back for a rally) The makers plate will have a new home at the University of Reading Rural museum.

On a side note, the curator would love to see other finds of a rural nature, so rather than scrapping them maybe email the museum first and see if they would like it.

Thats interesting Rob. Did they give you any info on what they made and when.

I ask because MAY was one of my ancestral surnames.  Hence my name Valerie May Horton.  It was a tradition to use the Mothers or Grand Mothers surname as a middle christian name , way back when.

They really dont know at this point Val, But they have promised to keep us and the farmer informed of their findings.

Ahh no I found all that and they even had a facebook page - Not there any longer though. I just wanted it to go somewhere other that the scrap bucket.

Thats a cheek Mike !  Chefs car was no where near as modern as that :D
