strange knife type handle for id please.

found this today on one of my permissions on  farm land that dates back to to the late 1700s but the farmer recons the building i found it near is from medieval times?
theres also a bronze age burial within 100 metres of where it was found.
looks like a knife type letter opener to me but its the funky carvings on it that makes me think its older.....?

hilt off a bollock dagger ,named for obvious reasons ,now to find the dagger to go with it

Thats a lovely find - I'd be tempted to add a blade and try and reconstruct it.

such a dagger is likely to have a 3 cornered triangular blade in section

been back today for 2 hours and had no luck finding the blade or any other part of it 
but will be back there on the weekend for a full day of searching
