Title: id please Post by: adt69 on May 13, 2014, 03:05:07 PM hi all
found these today and both look to be silver but there are no silver marks on them, the ring does look very old to me but i could be wrong. It is hollowed out could it have come off something ? any ideas al (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o315/rawshooter/detecting%20finds/IMG_20140513_173817_zpshhdh5jkm.jpg) (http://s123.photobucket.com/user/rawshooter/media/detecting%20finds/IMG_20140513_173817_zpshhdh5jkm.jpg.html) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o315/rawshooter/detecting%20finds/IMG_20140513_173734_zpswthcjsyg.jpg) (http://s123.photobucket.com/user/rawshooter/media/detecting%20finds/IMG_20140513_173734_zpswthcjsyg.jpg.html) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o315/rawshooter/detecting%20finds/IMG_20140513_140340_zpsultncpt6.jpg) (http://s123.photobucket.com/user/rawshooter/media/detecting%20finds/IMG_20140513_140340_zpsultncpt6.jpg.html) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o315/rawshooter/detecting%20finds/IMG_20140513_140524_zpsivrp7tfh.jpg) (http://s123.photobucket.com/user/rawshooter/media/detecting%20finds/IMG_20140513_140524_zpsivrp7tfh.jpg.html) Title: Re: id please Post by: Val Beechey on May 13, 2014, 04:06:20 PM Hi Al, have you tested the ring for silver ?? If it's not a modern-ish repro I might get a bit excited about it. It's looks interesting.

It has been tested and both items are silver. Could the ring be very old as there are no hallmarks Al Title: Re: id please Post by: chantalpoole on May 13, 2014, 06:08:06 PM certainly an interesting ring, i guess location of find might offer a clue as if it was field its far more likely to be old than if it was on a beach where its more likely to be a reproduction.
personally i think it has some age to it Title: Re: id please Post by: Val Beechey on May 13, 2014, 11:15:13 PM Might be worth a second opinion Al. It seems to have been in the ground a long time judging by the pitting and the wear on the pattern.

Title: Re: id please Post by: Val Beechey on May 14, 2014, 12:10:06 AM I thought Walking Stick but wasn't sure if it is big enough but maybe it is. Something like the collar on this one.

It is concave on the inside, I would say its not off a stick as its small I can only just get it on my little finger. Al Title: Re: id please Post by: Val Beechey on May 14, 2014, 08:20:41 AM My other thought was a Parasol/Umbrella. Being a Ladies item it would have been a bit more delicate.
