Title: A few more hours Post by: Chef Geoff on August 19, 2013, 08:29:12 PM Ran out of some parts this morning which gave me the afternoon off, so what else was I to do but detect ;D
Back to the same field I was on Saturday, no Romans this time but I finally got a hammy...only one but it's a start. A few other finds, the usual and not so usual which made it an enjoyable if tiring afternoon ;) (http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/P1010085.jpg) 16th/17th century spectacle buckle. And then............................................. (http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/P1010086.jpg) Yippee! Only a tiddler but it counts...Venetian silver soldino of Doge Leonardo Loredan (1501-1521) as it's been pierced twice I'm presuming it was attached (stitched) to a belt/clothing (http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/P1010087.jpg) A bit of pocket money (http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/P1010088.jpg) My favourite of finds, a 17th century tradesmens farthing, this one is local...Robert Haviland of Bridgwater dated 1652 (http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/P1010089.jpg) And just to keep the foreign theme going, a 1900 liberty nickel (and guess what, yep it's pierced) (http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/P1010090.jpg) And the smallest livery button I ever did see (http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/P1010091.jpg) Then the rest (http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/P1010092.jpg) Title: Re: A few more hours Post by: Dryland on August 19, 2013, 08:36:38 PM Nice one Geoff, and what an eclectic mixture of finds. Lovely to see one with both sides. It doesn't seem to have the holes in the bottom to tie through. Unless they have been lost through the damage. Have seen a similar one with enamelled lid that when opened contained a quarter stater. I think its inthe Celtic and Roman Artefacts book. You know what I'm like with Roman stuff, I was more interested in the Soldino :-[
