Just a little praise for Google Earth and its quality Aerial photography and the Information it gives to all people looking to research new land. We get to sit at home and save lots of carbon burning miles in our cars and a bit of research and a map on our knees we get some great rewards. Not every body will have fields with cropmarks and castles or Hillforts or DMV,s but a little view on here sure Helps.

Perhaps you can not find a continuation for a Roman Road. This Picture helps me as it is a stretch of road that I have just got permission to detect on.

Big surprises can also turn up as well. I thought this set of cropmarks would turn out to be Iron Age or Romano British. Got permission to field walk when the field was ploughed and found two pieces of pottery which I thought were of the same period. Been told they are Dark Age And only the third and fourth pieces of pot found out side of Hereford city from that period. Feel quite chuffed as the first and second pieces were found at a dig at Sutton near Hereford in the trench I was excavating a few years ago.

Well I thought about that one Nobby but I decided against as I was sure it would be posted, but I did not expect it so soon. Still makes me laugh though.  Grin Grin Grin
