Title: My first detector Post by: slowsearcher on February 11, 2015, 07:43:56 PM This was my first detector a B.F.O found 300 victorian coins in one days detecting in the local park in the 70s oh the join of being the first detectorist in my town albiet with a £25 B.F.O doug up lots of silver paper but it didnt miss much in the top say 6 inches.

Found some nice silver viccies with it. I used to find 303 bullets on the hillsides around Llandudno, polished them up and flogged them to my schoolmates :) The cool thing then was to make pendants from them - made you look well 'ard.
Title: Re: My first detector Post by: nonker10 on February 11, 2015, 11:01:14 PM my first detector was a c scope bfo 60 i bought it at the age of 15-16 from either a kays or janet fraser catalogue.i simply could'nt beleive that it could find metal underground and was amazed when it did!!!!

I also had the Viking bfo 50. Got it when they first came out after seeing one of the surf bums in Cornwall find a days spending money in minutes by just working the loose sand at the top of the beach. Happy detecting days. You could fill your pockets with enough change to pull your trousers down in those days. Didn't look for iffy signals or jewellery. just good loud, no headphone screeches Title: Re: My first detector Post by: probono on February 12, 2015, 09:43:26 AM My first detector (which I had until about 2 years ago) was from Radioshack - I did find quite a number of items in my parents' back garden with it, but in general I had more luck by eye than with using it.
