Had to get out although the grass is quite long now, last chance on that field until it's cut again.
Started to find a bit of bronze dross , then another and another. Thought that was a good sign so
persevered and just as it really started to pour down Henry III popped his head up! I thought that I had done the damage but on closer inspection it has that white look on the broken edges, on checking the hole I had a negative
signal, had to look though and the other little piece was on the surface, I got quite wet  Sad

Hi Beefy , I have spent many hours in that field trying to narrow down where the finds are, but today just went where the grass was short enough to detect on , spent 3 hours there.
Some cartidges Malcolm but mostly find the b****y percussion caps!

I think (and I may be wrong,) they have planted spuds in there in the past and have used sulphuric acid to kill off the holms (when it was allowed) and this causes the reaction with the silver.
Have others found them when chemicals haven't been used?
