hi leighton, deb, the tides were small today so it wouldn't have gone out far, when you can see the old fish traps you have a better chance, the best tides are next month,i go down there often myself, how did the machine work on the wet sand,no alan car park is locked you can park by the attendants cabin for free  Shocked Grin

Hi, all. So how did the 150 fare on Oxwich beach? I would say rather well.

I went around with it set to All Metal so that I would pick up absolutely everything. Then, when I did find something, I would switch it to Jewellery mode which screens out iron. I found this useful in pinpointing the signal. The display still shows iron but there is no audible sound. If there was only iron showing, I ignored the target and moved on. Who needs another tent peg, right? I would then dig the target and seperate out the pile into halves and kept doing this until I had a manageable amount. Then, I took handfuls of the sand and ran it across the coil to finally locate the target. As expected, I did find several ring pulls, bottle caps and magnetic stones. I also found a penny, a button and something else button-like that needs to be cleaned up.

As for how well the 150 does on wet sand, I would say so-so. When I took it on the wet sand I was expecting it to go crazy, but it didn't. Instead, when you hit a particular area which must be particularly saturated it gives you a strong signal. But then, when you dig the target and scan again it has either moved a foot away or has vanished completely. I suspect this has something to do with sub-surface salt water which gets displaced when disturbed, but I'm no expert, lol.

All in all, for what I paid for it, I found the 150 to be a good machine. If something's there it will find it and I fully expect to make some decent finds with it in the future.  Cool

One thing about "Beach Detecting" is you can be sure you`ll find those "bloody ring-pulls"  Grin

well done Leighton, you've obviously given a lot of thought as to how to get the best out of your Ace.
Mandy and the kids use a 250, i'll be showing them your post, that seems a very efficient way to use it Smiley
Good post mate, look forward to seeing your finds, i have a feeling you may be dispelling some myths with your little ACE and shaming some of us with the top flight machines.
