I know it's a bit of a long shot but have you any idea what this might be.
Found on the beach today, it's silver (stunk the kitchen out when tested)  measures 19mm and is quite thin.
I have my thoughts but am not convinced, it seems to be struck very badly.

Hey Hey Alan, like it. Grin

The joke of it is, I had no idea what it was till I got it home (Geoff will love this) and hit it around a bit with a toffee hammer. It was just a black blob with something in the middle.

Not in the greatest condition but I love it.  Roll Eyes

What would be the best way to get invited / attend one of these PAS workshops? Although I have to admit that I was amused the other day when I heard a local conservator used a laser to remove iron-pan from silver when sulphuric acid would do the trick a lot quicker and cheaper...

i think the somerset area is one of a few areas trialling the self recording aspect prior to it rolling out across the UK

As far as I'm aware self recording is nationwide. Obviously self-recording is the main criteria as without doing so then the workshops have no real value within the PAS sphere.
