Found this artefact or part of last sunday, its made of bronze and has a nice patina and decoration so I'm guessing medieval or older-any ideas what it is and how old? Looks like part of an early medieval strap end to me but any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Ben.

Thats an interesting one Benny - got me stumped mate. Its got to be Medieval at the earliest.

I'm probably wrong, but the markings and shape remind me of Anglo Saxon artefacts.

Interesting find - see you soon

Any chance of a picture with some idea of scale?

Looks like a snapped buckle end to me. Markings on the middle look like s grip plate for a buckle pin.

Medieval buckle fragment I would say, although I can't find one quite the same.

Nicely winkled Benny, I think it could be a fragment of this type.
