Badger setts can be very, very big and also very very old. They are used by successive generations and expanded according to the number of inhabitants. There’s an enormous one not far from where I live and an elderly neighbour told me it was there when he was a child and he remembered his father taking the terriers there. Possibly something has been suspended from it hence the bronze wire.... ;)

Stone anchors not unusual during medieval period (cheap and easy to make) for sea going vessels. So could also apply to freshwater vessels. Maybe.🤔 |
