Title: Hammered coins . . .
Post by: Neil on December 01, 2008, 08:37:48 PM
We all love finding them and researching them! Have you thought about how they were made though? Heres a block plate attached of coins being struck, clipped and recorded in the 1400's (I think!)

Cheers
Neil

I always thought that they used some type of snips, (out in the field as it were) to cut them into halves and quarters, to use as change, recently been informed that they would put them on a solid surface and give them a bang with a sharp knife. Doh!!! :P
