Title: Unusual button? and finds Any idea Doc?

Out today again on my ownsome.

Hard going , hot , dry and tired from Sunday.

Finds amongst the crud are.

14 buttons
2 blank half penny George iii ?
1 1892 Victoria Penny
1 1921 Penny

Any ideas on the the button theres no solder mark on the back.

Nice button Rob. Probably 18th century. This is from UKDFD:

The excavation of the now famous towns of Herculaneum and Pompeii in 1738 and 1748 stimulated an interest throughout the world in classical art. Buttons in the form of Roman coins date mainly from the second half of the 18th century and are, no doubt, a reflection of this interest.

Thanks Peter , nice one. I've had a few decorated buttons of that field now. Night soil field maybe.
