...I swear by the two tone ferrous setup guys. I pushed this as far as I could and it's great!!!.....easy, deep and fast.

The theory is that by not disc'ing out the iron, the ETrac won't null and thus is really fast. The only disc on the screen is at the top on the FE01 line. This limits the iron 'wrap around' falsing that in two tone ferrous will give you the annoying high tone 'blips' that you chase around.

I also researched into making it faster still.......

If you set DEEP OFF, FAST ON and VOLUME GAIN 30......this will add that little extra ver ver vroom!!!

The DEEP setting uses additional filtering to enhance deep faint signals. This adds to the processing time and slows things down. You can get the same result by setting Volume Gain to 30.
Turn FAST to ON. This kinda works in reverse. By turning Fast On....you turn additional filters off. This again speeds things up. All these filters do is stabilise the target ID numbers.
With this setup.....you go audio anyway.
This is the quickest way to use the Etrac in my mind and provides deep and fast hunting with lightning target separation.

Set to FERROUS & 2 TONES.

Many people use this now and have had excellent results.
If you are struggling with your ETrac, try this......it isn't a comprimise to me.

Dig the high tones.....ignore the low tones......if you get a warbly mixed high & low tone at 90 degree angles....dig it.........high tone one way and a low tone at 90.....it's iron........easy!!!

...no probs!!!!

Anyone who hasn't tried it.....do!......you'll be surprised.

You'll find many people will try and convince you that multi tones and conductive are the ONLY way to hunt properly.....cr@p!!!

I think it's a matter of if it works for you keep using it, I have always used multi and am now used to it and changing to 2 tone would feel a bit weird.
I do have a hammered farthing that takes a couple of sweeps to come in as positive on 2 tone ferrous, but in saying that I wonder how many targets multi misses, many people will tell you that it won't miss many/any but it's impossible to prove a negative and happy in our ignorance we never know what we are missing with any setting.

...thanks Debs!

Geoff.......a very valid point made.
If whatever you are using works.....use it!!!!
If you're struggling a little or want a change....it's there. Multi tones can be extreme to say the least.
I developed and tweaked my settings because me and my mate used to have Whites M6's.
We absolutely loved the 7 tone ID which gave iron as a low grunt. I just wanted to try and emulate this.

Four tones can get a little 'warbly' for me.

At some time, someone will mention missing targets below FE17. Me and my mate put this to bed by testing and testing digging targets below FE17.....it was all cr@p!!!!
Believe me....using two tones won't miss much.

Because the target separation is super fast with this programme, it minimises any 'target blending' and gives you distinct separate tones.

What do I mean about 'target blending'??.....I think when people say "I've dug good targets at FE27" for example.
They think they have but I suggest that an FE12 close to an FE35 (iron) drags the signature down to FE27.

This programme will give you a high tone next to a low tone and find both.

When I put these settings in the etrac emulator, silver gives a low tone and copper a high.
