Title: EUREKA
Post by: Val Beechey on March 10, 2015, 08:07:30 PM
Dylan will be pleased to know I've gone and done it as well.  I've finally found a field that has had more than just cows in it. ;D
DaMonkey will be pleased his suggestion worked, Disc 35 and Iron volume 0   Still had some big iron shouting at me but it was much better.
You wont recognise them but I had 4 silvers this afternoon. 2 x two shillings 1 x pre decimal 10p and a lovely 1903 Edward 6th six pence and 2p.
The oldest find is a pot mend with some of the pot still attached, (right hand side of the buckle). And yet another window catch. That was approx. 10" down and registered 92.  As it's brass I was surprised. Let that be a lesson, not everything 90 + is iron. Oh and loads  and loads of ring pulls (ex camping site)
Happy days, a new Farm, a nice Farmer, go any time, help yourself, don't clock in and the best fields to come. Maybe I'll keep the Deus after all. ::)

Thanks Fellas.   Forgot to mention, that's 2 1/2 hours detecting.  Wonder what might come up on a 4 hour session.

Got home and had a coffee and an Ibuprofen.  Shoulder was O.K. but my poor old back, not used to all that digging  ::)

Hey, well done Val You've got it sussed, I knew you'd do it though. All I need now is a direct video link to you when
I'm out in the fields  ???

You know it's really great when this happens.  Thanks for all the comments Guys, it's much appreciated.

Alan, after seeing some of those prices all I could say was Bl===y Hell.  I've now got a very nice George 3rd, a half decent Victoria and a EDWARD 6th sixpence.  I seem to have a thing for six pences. And yes, for me , that was some digging. And that's not counting what I ditched.

Chris, yes it's my 3rd Victorian window catch.  Amazing the speculation the first one caused but this time I recognised it as soon as it came up. Amazingly one of the Scottish members found one and they didn't know what it was either.

Dylan, I'll send you the link   ;)

As for Hammies, well I'll believe it when I see it.

Gary (Chainsaw Bampy)  keep at it. I'm proof that all you need is a good patch and you'll be away.  I've lost count of the newbies that have overtaken me.  I still live in hope.

Days after having the Deus I said my problem was lack of good targets to compare with. Today has proved my point.

Val

Just edited the George to Edward,   Silly me :-[

We will have to start calling you "Val Sixpence"; or would it be "Sixpence Beechey"?  Thats what happened to my beach buddy; he became "Richie Sixpence". I wonder who will become kcown as"Shottty", or even "Buttons"?  ;D

It never ceases to amaze me how you lot can change a serious exchange into a comedy show. ::) ;D

Just goes to show you have to be nuts to be a detectorist. ;)

Post by: Val Beechey on March 12, 2015, 10:57:24 PM
Hi Chris,  no I didn't give it up, I loved it to bits in the end but after having a few months off last Summer I found it hard work on the muscles.  I've still got it charged up and ready to go if needed.

I picked it up a couple of days ago to check the batteries and couldn't believe the difference in weight compared to the Deus. Makes me wonder how I used to swing it with a 13" coil for 4 hours.  Must be getting old  ::)

Val
