This is another unusual find I picked up from a house clearance and consists of 72 sand rubies from Ceylon. They were aquired when the deceased gent was stationed there in the 1930's in the British Army.

They range in size, and all are certainly useable in the hands of a skilled jeweller. Each one looks black until you hold it up to the light when they come alive with fire! Photo really don't do them justice, but theres no natural light at this time of day!
