Well done Phil - you'll never forget your first Grin

I'm working on the ID now, but a better picture would help, particularly of the legend on the reverse.

Thanks for posting the extra image Phil. I am tending towards this being Henry II, Class 1b, and Carlisle mint, but I'm still looking for an exact match. The reverse seems to read CADVL to me, but I could be wrong.

PIPSTER !!!!!!! well done mate  Cheesy
you never forget your first hammered. and as been said if you are finding cut halves you ain't missing much. Not many people find hammered so soon after starting hobby but you're well away now mate. as soon as peter gives a confirmed ID i'll place it in our database....along with your other finds. Hopefully we'll catch up at next rally and you can show me in person, I'm really thrilled for you mate.  Wink

I have shown this to the incomparable Rod Blunt at UKDFD, who has confirmed this is indeed Henry II, Class 1b1. The mint is Carlisle and the moneyer, although his name is on the other half of the coin, is Alain - he was the only moneyer in Carlisle at this time.
