Its a short cross cut half hammered penny. The difficult bit is if its Richard The Lionheart, John or Henry III as they are all very similar except for the odd pellet on the crown, etc. This is where the Doc comes in! Wink

Great find - if you are finding halfs you are not missing much

Well done Phil, Neil beat me to it. Yes it a beauty, I would hazard a guess at Henry III, But Peter should be able to give you a positive id.
