While using the ace on dry sand, i was sick of having to empty the coil cover of sand Huh. It not only made it heavy work, but also give some false signals.
Solution - with coil cover fitted using a marker pen, i drew around the spider coil, then removed cover and used Dremmel to cut out shape of spider.
Now when using , all the coil is still protected by cover, and the problem above has been eliminated.

Nice one Geoff  Grin Grin, and your right Gafflad, they could have done this in production, would have made things a lot easier mate. On some American sites you can see that some of their coil covers are allready like the one i alltered, don't make sense  Huh

Interesting, Ace. I might give that a try if I get the same problems you've had.

before you do Leighton, one thing to remember is that the solid bottom of the coil cover comes into it's own on stubble and tuffted grass as it means you can keep the coil in contact with the ground without the spider coil getting caught on things.
