Found a couple of interesting bits at todays Rally.   The top one is iron and the round one seems to be bronze.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

good going Val ... no idea as to what they are, but there's a good chance one maybe a bronze age spearhead ....

Thanks Alan, feelings mutual.

I was very surprised when I washed the crud off both of these.  I thought spearhead as soon as I looked at it. But, like so many other artefacts,  never having seen one in the flesh, I wasn't sure.  There's not much info on them but I did find one on PAS that seemed to fit.
Be great if it's confirmed.

If it's iron it can't be Bronze Age,  can it  ??   I know Bronze was used in Wales well into the Iron age but not the other way round.

Just a thought.

Unfortunately when iron starts going you need the whole thing to identify it conclusively, you can't even believe the shape as iron has a nasty habit of corroding into a point (thickest part) but if you have a central rib on both sides there is a good chance that it is or was a blade of some sort Wink
