From my sources I've obtained the following information. It appears there is to be a new E Trac out shortly. You heard it here first!!!

Mr ******* (deleted to protect identity as this is not supposed to be public info yet) (Minelab spokesperson) has said that under the Minelab policy of constantly reviewing and updating their extensive product range, they have listened to feedback from end users, and have enhanced their class leading E Trac with additional features.

The new E Trac Plus is not so much an update of the existing product but a new machine in it's own right, with the additional features:

# The machine will have a straight stem with ergonomic padded handgrip
#  Stem will collapse to 36" length allowing easy storage / portage
# The control box will be infront of the handgrip with pinpoint trigger under box
#  Faster 64 bit processor
#  Clock - internal battery powered and recharged
#  GPS technology - make note of find/s locations and relocate
#  Improved software giving additional functions including patented battery save
    technology
#  New nanotech plastic technology used throughout making The Plus even lighter for
    extended detecting use
#  Cordless headphone facility incorporated in upper stem for included cordless
headphones (Additional set can be purchased)
#  Higher Lithium battery output allowing additional detecting power and depth
#  New Minelab Plus coil incorporating DD and 'elipticoil' (R) Coil technology giving
user two coils in one / Made lighter and more powerful by patented factory coil
winding designed specifically for new E Trac Plus
#  Easier coil change - coil change made at base of stem by military specification
waterproof screw. No more feeding cable through stem.
~  Additional aftermarket coils to follow
#  New Minelab livery making this machine instantly recognisable
#  Build Quality further enhanced with additional of new nanoplastech materials
give showerproofing (not water submersible) and added protection against heat/cold
Minelab now offer a 5 year warranty on hardware (Electronics remain at 3 years)

Factory Pack will have Instructional DVD with manual (PDF format), coil and control box covers, and cordless headphones, and new liveried Minelab carrybag.

This class leading totally new E Trac Plus will be available Early 2010 and expected to sell at under £1500

Further product information and field test report will be released shortly on The Minelab website.

I think they mean the control box part is not submersible......as is at present.

Only the Excalibur is fully submersible.

It was denied again only a few days ago....but thet denied the Sovereign Elite was coming out till they were blue in the face in the U.S. yet J.A. had already started selling the previous version at a large discount and a couple of months later the new machine arrived.

Good luck to those who can afford it, the sad fact is unless they keep turning out "new machines" the company cannot keep going I would think !
