i found the bottom piece last year ,found the top piece last week,,,the bottom section has beeen attributed to the early medieval period ?,,,,but what is it ?

Very unusual. I'm with the sutt on this one, it's probably a strap end.Did you PAS it?

yep i did with the smaller bottom piece and what came back was early medi skillet handle ,,,,,but i found both pieces on a small hill that also produced blobs of bronze and 4 roman broaches so far the flo has yet to see the top piece but in my opinion as i know the land very well its either celtic ?{celtic items found in field next door} or saxon,other saxon finds arefrom a feild about 500 metres away}  so i dont agree with the initial id  and now this other piece has come to light  thought i would stick it on here and see what you guys think {object lenth of both pieces is 4"x1"}
