Found this coin a while ago and didn't really take too much notice of it to be honest. But on closer inspection am wondering whether it may be a celtic bronze, the reverse looks to be a stylised horse maybe and part of a circle. It's pretty chunky weighing in at 6.0g, approx 1mm thick and diameter of what's left of it 21mm. Any thoughts much appreciated.

Cheers
Herbie.

Hey Herbie, hope all is well! My guess is Roman as it looks like to have "SC" on the reverse side. A roman sestertius perhaps? But that figure standing looks a little crude looking on the reverse side, not sure if they made contemporary forgeries of these? Anyhow, a Roman coin methinks and not celtic Smiley Well found!!

Thanks for that, I wasn't at all sure as it does seem very crude, as you say quite probably a contemporary forgery.

No problem at all! I actually just seen this, looks very much like your coin. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Unknown-Large-Roman-Coin-28mm-/280938701232?pt=UK_Antiquities&hash=item41694061b0
