Title: Ultrasonic Bath at Lidl's
Post by: Debbie on January 05, 2010, 04:58:55 PM
Today I saw Ultrasonic Baths for sale in Lidl's for £19.99.
I think that's quite a good price - great for cleaning jewellery.

Hi Debbie I had one for Xmas,  I have put coins badges a silver bracket plus other items in,   Result was     coins yes id did get a lot of the crud off,  i put a red threepence in  and it came out ,  not too bad but not brill,  with the badge it had a lot of stains on the white and red enamel,  it came out nice and clean,   the bracket was very dirty,  that came out really nice,   my opinion on the bath,  (with just water)  5 out of ten  for coins  and 7 out of ten for other items,  maybe I will try and put something in the water to try it out.

Precious metals seem to come out the best in plain water - I'm not sure what 'additives' are suitable for putting in with the water.
The good thing about ultrasonic is that it is non-abrasive - safer for more delicate items.

Your right Deb, they work best with silver and gold. The only thing I would add is a couple of drops of washing up liquid.
I wouldn't use one on anything enamelled, plated or chromed as it doesn't know the difference between these and dirt.

they had one where i used to work....there was an additive solution being used in it......if you check the detector shop sites i'm sure you will find something to suit.....byron
