ON THE RIGHT TRACK IT IS A SHRIKE. WHICH ONE .THO .ALSO WHAT DOES IT DO TO ITS PREY WHEN CAUGHT.

butcher birds are magpie-like birds, native to australasia....they have a long straight bill with a hook at the end, for skewering prey.....they skewer their prey on thorns or tree forks to support them while eating or to be left there for storage for another time..........sorry gwill...i cheated and looked it up......lol...... GREAT ANSWERS THERE BOYS.LIKED PHILS LAST ANSWER HAHA!   CRONGE WAS CORRECT,AND CHEATING BYRON TO TEHE!BUT THE FULL NANE OF THE BIRD I WAS AFTER.....IS CALLED THE RED BACK SHRIKE!!.INDEED THEY WOULD IMPALE THERE PREY  SMALL RODENTS AND SMALL BIRDS IN THORN BUSHES OR TREES..FOUND ONE OF THESE MANY YEARS AGO,IT WAS QUITE GRUESOME IN AWAY.SEEING MICE AND SMALL BIRDS HANGING LIKE TROPHYS FROM ALL AROUND THE BUSH..THERE BEAKS WERE CROSSED LIKE THE CROSSBILL.......GWIL
