Title: The Fatty Fatty Boom Boom Club. 2012
Post by: Tafflaff (Rob) on May 19, 2011, 06:08:28 PM
Ok I've threatened to do this to myself for some time now. I've gone on a diet but this time, its not in the secrecy of my own home and mind where I can hide and kid myself I'm losing weight. I'm taking my inspiration from Richard 16.DD wanting to lose weight, and Neil stopping smoking. Putting it out there on the forum so that theres no excuse.

I weighed Monday on the Wii fit and I weighed in at  :-\  19 Stone 10lbs   >:( . I was gutted. That is heavy for any mammal that is predominately land dwelling.

I'm asking for all of DW's help - a kind word or a little bit of encouragement and I think that may be enough to keep me on track. I'm going to weigh once a week every Monday and I'll post up my weight as I go along.

My target ??? Well Its a Stone to start. I know if I set my target as my Target weight it will daunt me. So  wish me luck I think I'm in for a long journey.

Taff

16th May 2011 - 19 Stone 10lbs (START WEIGHT)
1- 23rd May 2011 - 19 Stone 01lbs
2- 30th May 2011 - 18 stone 10lbs (1st Target met 19 stone)
3- 06th June 2011 - 18 Stone 4lbs
4- 13th June 2011 - 18 Stone 4lbs
5- 20th June 2011 - 17 Stone 13lbs
6- 27th June 2011 - 17 Stone 10lbs
7- 04th July  2011 - 17 Stone 06lbs
8- 11th July  2011 - 17 Stone 03lbs
9- 18th July  2011 - 16 Stone 11lbs   (2ND TARGET REACHED 17ST)---
10- 25th July  2011 - 16 Stone 08lbs
11- 01st Aug  2011 - 16 Stone 08lbs
12- 08th Aug  2011 - 16 Stone 05lbs
13- 15th Aug  2011 - 16 Stone 03lbs Total loss  49lbs.....Next target get down to 16 Stone

I found the only diet I lost weight on was the atkins diet. I lost 4 stone in 6 months.

I went down from 23 stone to 19, but I have lapsed a bit since then and am now back to 21 stone.

Detecting for a couple of days solid made me lose almost half a stone but I was so knackered after that I wouldnt recommend it as a weight loss strategy.

Good luck Taff.

Eric

Well done Rob on making the decison.

A quick couple of tips:

1) No pastries
2) No fried foods
3) Smaller portions
4) Cut down on beer/wine
5) Porridge for breakfast and soups as much as possible (they keep you feeling fuller for longer so you
                                                                                                                    don't snack!)

6) Exercise. Long walks - hills where possible.

It'll be great to see your progress. Good Luck!

Beer and wine is my downfall. I could do with losing 1 stone. I got a treadmill installed in my shed. I gotta tv
in there so I can watch tv and get away from the missus for a hour !  ;)   ;D

Well done on your weight loss Rob........ ;)
Even though your diet is important, I find that I can still eat and drink most things within  reason, but exercise is most important........ ;)
As you are aware I do have issues with my legs, so sufficient walking  can prove to be a negative factor with me. So I tend to spend an AWFUL lot of time down the gym, I spend approx 2hrs per day, 5 days per week in the gym, and in just over 12 months I have seen my weight fall from 16st 7lbs to 13st 5lbs....... :)
I am 12lbs short of my final goal, so the hard work must go on....... ;)
Keep up the good work mucker, it can only be of benefit to one's health........ ;)

I had the same experience a few years back.  Towards the end of their lives my 2 little dogs couldn't walk so I didn't. I put on a load of weight, went up to 13st 3 lbs.
When eventually they died I got new little friends and started walking again. In 12 months I went down to 11st 8lbs and all through walking.
I have heard it's the best sort of exercise. 3 miles every morning, rain or shine.
Theres your answer Guys. Get a Dog and leave the booze alone.

Val

Well done, Rob.

When you can see your efforts are working it spurs you on even more.

I used to play a lot of football and do marathon running which meant I could drink/eat to my hearts content. I've started running again and it's making a difference.

Only trouble is I've had a pulled achilles tendon for a couple of months and running is a bit painful but I don't want to rest it and lose the impetus.

I'd love to start playing football again if anyone knows of a friendly club I can train with in or around Cardiff?

Your to old Bob,your having a laugh ;) :D

You're only as old as you feel..................and the one I'm feeling now is young!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

I was playing up until three years ago. I don't mean playing semi professional.....just a knock around
or training!

Mind you, with that heap of sh*t I saw at The Cardiff City Stadium in the last few matches, I reckon I
could put them to shame.....especially when in the 'effort' section.

Don't worry Rob. It's quite normal to plateau out after the first few weeks. It's as if the body suddenly gets used to the change and stabilises.
The weight loss does get smaller the longer you're on a diet. But, they say, that's far better because you're not so liable to put it back on.
You are doing really well, we're all proud of you. Keep at it and in the not too distant future Arnie will have to watch out. ;D ::)

No White bread (Granary instead)
No refined flour
No white pasta
No White Rice (Brown Rice Instead)
Added Wholemeal Pasta and Wholemeal Cous Cous to my Diet change.

Keep at it Rob. Another bag and a half of sugar gone off the hips this week!  :D

I've started knocking up fruit smoothies for breakfast instead of cereals. I've use a BAMIX. It's just a case a
throwing some cheap over ripe bannanas in a plastic bowl, ice cubes, some frozen fruit, honey, hazlenuts,
lemon juice, a bit of milk. 30 secs with the BAMIX blender and it's done. The Bamix takes 15 secs to clean.

Keeps me full till the evening.

That Bamix is a mean bit of kit. I use it for making home made soups, sauces, and other things. I've had it years now,
long before Gordon Ramsay started using it!   ;D

Well done Rob. Thats 2 1/2 stone in 8 weeks. Somehow that sounds much more impressive. To knock it into perspective, it's more than one sixth of my weight. Thats a lot.

Keep going.. ;D

Health-wise my back is certainly noticing the difference and my feet dont hurt so much when I'm walking. I can get to the top of the mountain now without stopping. I'm feeling far more mentally positive...or is that positively mental... I can never get those the correct way around  ;D. I'm not drinking so no more hangovers (last weekend aside). The only downside is that none of my clothes fit me any longer.

Oh.... And I've gone down a shoe size  ???

Inner peace (or peace of mind) refers to a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress. Being "at peace" is considered by many to be healthy (homeostasis) and the opposite of being stressed or anxious. Peace of mind is generally associated with bliss, happiness and contentment.
Peace of mind, serenity, and calmness are descriptions of a disposition free from the effects of stress. In some cultures, inner peace is considered a state of consciousness or enlightenment that may be cultivated by various forms of training, such as prayer, meditation, T'ai Chi Ch'uan or yoga, for example. Many spiritual practices refer to this peace as an experience of knowing oneself. Finding inner peace is often associated with traditions such as Buddhism and Hinduism.
Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, emphasizes the importance of inner peace in the world:
The question of real, lasting world peace concerns human beings, so basic human feelings are also at its roots. Through inner peace, genuine world peace can be achieved. In this the importance of individual responsibility is quite clear; an atmosphere of peace must first be created within ourselves, then gradually expanded to include our families, our communities, and ultimately the whole planet.[1]

Well done Rob, 4 lbs is brilliant. Salad stuff and cold weather dont really mix so why not try some home made soups like cauliflower and red pepper or butternut squash - put them to cook with not too much water and zap with a blender stick and they are nice and thick and really filling. I am trying my best too at the moment but dont want to divulge any figures (scuse the pun!). Am weighing on Wed and if I can match your 4 lbs will be cock a hoop!

Keep shrinking!

Hiya Rob,

I have only joined the site today and found this thread whilst browsing.

Just want to wish you good luck - I have struggled with my weight for many years and know it's not easy to lose those unwanted pounds/stones etc.

I agree with Mrs Rookypair, soups are brilliant this time of year as many of them freeze so you can do a batch for when you haven't got much time - also, planning your meals for a few days in advance sometimes helps as it stops you grabbing a take away etc.

Might join you on this, but don't want to put my starting weight on here

Good luck everyone

13- 15th Aug  2011 - 16 Stone 03lbs Total loss  49lbs.....Next target get down to 16 Stone

Ok so I've put a load of weight back on since August - No surprise there for me. Its a hard time of year to lose weight but as I now have a treadmill, not being able to get out walking should no longer be an issue. I'm back up to 17 Stone 12lbs  Thats an increase of 1 and a half Stone  >:(.

Dw members helped me a huge amount last year I'm sure I'll get encouragement this year. Wish me luck guys and Gals.

As always I will weigh in every Monday.

2012 Start Weight

2nd Jan 2012 - 17 Stone 12 lbs (First Target 17 Stone)
9th Jan 2012 - 17 Stone 08 lbs
16th Jan 2012 - 17 Stone 7lbs

Again not a great week with just a measly 1 lb lost , still its a loss. This cold weather is really making it hard not to eat comforting warm food.

2012 Weight loss  FATOMETER SAYS.............5lbs

i think i may join you on this! ive always been over weight but i put a big effort in last year and lost 3 stone in 6 months getting down to 13st but then along came xmas and my resolve faded and the pounds piled on and im back up to 13st 12 so im gona have to start again.

if it helps i lost weight not doing exercise but at work im on my feet and moving stuff all night so i just got into the mentality to treat it like a work out on the 2 busiest days of the week, and would push myself to get a right sweat on. i think people thought i had gone mad lol i was doing 2x the work of some people. that and cutting out anything which you know is bad for you (biscuits, fizzy drinks, chocolate etc) we all know they are bad when your trying to lose weight but sometimes try and kid ourself's!

a tip, which im sure u probably all know. weigh yourself the same time every day (pref morning) as your weight can fluctuate by as much as 6 lbs in a day.

tuesday 17th jan - 13st 12lbs ( target 12st)
