jesus, i cant even get 1 farm to go on,

I wouldnt advise anyone to approach large estates, unless you are connected via family or business. Only larger clubs that can offer substantial sums ££££ are successful.

If you live in an area abundent with houses, tectors and clubs, you need to travel !

I looked on map tuther day and drove 30miles up to a roman road, spoke to the farmer who I didnt know at all and asked for permission to detect. As it was he said yes, last two farms said no !
You can have thousands of acres to detect on, but if there is nothing there, u need more.

Which means getting off backside, on bus/car/train and look for some.
Or you rely on rallies laid on !

PS. edited out term lazy as no offence was intended

Also do your research. Look for Roman roads, Domesday settlements, field names, what else has been found in the area check your county Sites and monuments record. Look at web sites like Coflein and GGAT. Gathering the Jewels is another site and even look at www.old-maps.co.uk with plenty of clues and a million paths that have now disappeared. Most of my land is of the beaten track now, but has not always been that way.

I have just had a thick ear from my next doot neighbour, he caught me nitehawking in his greenhouse, but I knew where the soil came from, so I dont have the problem of to much land.
