Title: Septimus Severus Post by: BottyBurp (Kris) on April 02, 2009, 03:15:27 PM I managed to get out for a couple of hours today for a change, I had a handful of Roman Bronze with 2 Brooches then this beauty popped up!
I'm not too good at identifying coins but I believe it's a Severus Alexander something, not sure what denomination though! Burp Title: Re: Septimus Severus Post by: Kev on April 02, 2009, 03:27:11 PM that's a class coin botty , that's what this hobby is all about m8. great find . ;D

there were practically no silver coins struck between the years AD 270 and 350. and as i understand it, and im no expert, the term Siliqua refers to silver coins struck after AD 350. Title: Re: Septimus Severus Post by: The Doc on April 02, 2009, 09:25:08 PM As zorro said - this is a denarius, the siliqua didn't come in until about 320 AD under Constantine I.
